Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly offered Noussair Mazraoui a deal worth €3 million per year, hoping to beat Barcelona with the offer.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Noussair Mazraoui has been offered a five-year contract by AC Milan. The Serie A giants are ready to pay the Ajax defender €3 million per year, hoping to beat Barcelona to his signature in the summer transfer window.

Noussair Mazraoui has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the transfer market this year. While his performances in the ongoing campaign have played a part in his rise in stature, the Moroccan international’s impending free agency makes him an attractive option for several clubs.

The 24-year-old has five goals and four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions this term. But Ajax will lose the star right-back in the summer transfer window on a free, with several high profile clubs across Europe scrambling for his signature. Barcelona and AC Milan are two of his prospective suitors.

The interest from Barcelona stems from the uncertainties surrounding Sergino Dest. While the USMNT international has stepped up in recent weeks, widespread reports still suggest that he has failed to convince Xavi Hernandez of his abilities. And with Dani Alves in the twilight of his career, Barcelona will need to bring in a long-term right-back solution in the summer.

Mazraoui has thus emerged as a viable target for the Blaugrana, with the player reportedly keen on moving to Camp Nou. But Barcelona will need to fend off stiff competition from AC Milan to land the Moroccan defender in the summer transfer window.

The Serie A giants are now stepping up their efforts to snap up the 24-year-old, having offered a €3 million-a-year contract to him. The duration of the deal will be five years, with Mazraoui likely to replace Alessandro Florenzi when the Italian international returns to AS Roma at the end of his loan spell.

But while the €3 million-a-year contract offer might be enticing, Rudy Galetti has been quick to point out that Mazraoui is still likelier to join Barcelona than AC Milan as things stand. The Catalan giants want to reach an agreement with the Ajax defender quickly, and AC Milan’s looming threat should force them to accelerate their efforts.
