Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing an ambitious summer swoop for Real Madrid’s experienced right-back Dani Carvajal.

According to Defensa Central, Bayern Munich have expressed interest in Dani Carvajal. The Bundesliga juggernaut are in the market for an attacking right-back in the summer, with the Real Madrid veteran appearing to be the ideal option, thanks to his experience at the highest level of football.

A product of the club’s own youth academy, Carvajal has been a consistent performer for Real Madrid over the years. He has racked up over 300 competitive appearances for the team, playing a crucial role in helping them win four Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.

However, in recent years, the experienced right-back has not been as useful due to his battles with injuries. It has forced the club to bank on the services of Lucas Vazquez. Los Blancos are now keen on signing a new right-back in the summer, having already targeted former player and PSG superstar Achraf Hakimi.

Many believe Carvajal may not welcome the idea of Real Madrid signing a new right-back as he wants to retain his status as a first-team regular in the years to come. It has put Bayern Munich on alert, as the Bavarians look to lure him back to Germany with the promise of regular game-time.

Currently on course for a tenth successive Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich are eyeing significant reinforcements in the defensive unit. Especially at right-back, coach Julian Nagelsmann is not fully convinced with the performances of Benjamin Pavard, while the experiment with Bouna Sarr has completely failed.

Nagelsmann favours a move for a new offensive-minded right-back, and that is where Carvajal could prove to be an excellent option. The Spaniard has vast experience at the highest level of football and has even played in the Bundesliga before, during his short stint at Bayer Leverkusen.

However, the report suggests Carvajal has no immediate plans to leave Santiago Bernabeu. The player’s contract was renewed until 2025 last summer, and it appears very unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti will sanction the departure of his two senior-most full-backs in the same transfer window, regardless of his apparent plans to bolster the depth at right-back.

It could ultimately force Bayern Munich to set their sights on other alternatives. They have been, quite shockingly, linked with a move for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, though given the Englishman’s relative lack of offensive qualities, Nagelsmann might not follow through with an official approach.
