Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma has recently explained his decision to snub a move to Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester United this summer.

In an official statement, as reported by Metro, Yves Bissouma has recently pointed out the reason he snubbed a move to a bigger club this season. He insists he is happy at Brighton but did hint at a potential move away from the club in the near future.

A 2018 arrival from LOSC Lille, Bissouma has established himself as one of the star midfielders in the Premier League, thanks to a couple of successful seasons with the Seagulls.

In just three years, the 25-year-old has already notched up over 100 competitive appearances for Brighton, making quite an impression due to his defensive prowess, dynamism and solidity in the middle of the park. His success had even attracted multiple clubs in the summer, with Arsenal, for one, identifying him as one of the top targets.

Bissouma was linked with a move to Liverpool and Manchester United as well. However, in the club interview, the Malian international has explained his decision to remain put at Brighton and why it was a logical move for him at that point of his career.

I didn’t go this summer, maybe its because it’s not my time to go. When my time will come, it’s my time, but I’m happy in Brighton, I’m enjoying playing football,” he told Brighton and Hove Albion.

Bissouma, though, did reaffirm his desire to play for a bigger club in the future, stating: “My dream is like every player, I want to play in the Champions League, I want to be champions. I want to compare myself on the top level, not just with other players.”

This is certainly enough to put several English top clubs on red alert. In fact, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have already been linked with a planned January swoop for the 25-year-old, who is seemingly growing in confidence and has played a key role behind Brighton’s exceptional start to the season this term.

Bissouma’s current contract at the Amex expires in 2023, so clubs could certainly sign him for a cut-price, especially if they invest the money next summer rather than the winter transfer window. But the chronic need of a defensive midfielder for clubs like Arsenal and Man United may already see the Malian’s fate being sealed much sooner.
