Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio has commented on his future as he continues to attract interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to the media while on international duty, Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio has admitted that he is not sure about what the future holds for him, insisting that he has three possibilities ahead of the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old is attracting interest from Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Asensio has seen his stature reduce at Real Madrid over the past couple of seasons following his return from a serious knee injury. However, the Spanish international showed glimpses of his quality in the season gone by under Carlo Ancelotti, finishing the campaign with 12 goals and two assists from 42 matches in all competitions.

However, Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid stands to expire in the summer of 2023. And it has given way to speculations over his future, especially with Real Madrid being linked with a new wide forward heading into the transfer window.

Asensio has been on the radars of north London clubs Arsenal for a while now, while recently the 26-year-old was offered to the Gunners’ rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Along with the two clubs, Manchester United have also reportedly entered the race to sign the Spanish international from Real Madrid.

Responding to the speculations, as quoted by MARCA (h/t Mirror), Asensio said, “I am focused on the national team. When this concentration is over, we will talk. We will see what I will do with my future. Renew or leave Real Madrid? I think there are three possibilities, there is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year.”

The Spanish international also added that his future does not necessarily depend on his prospects of making the squad for the FIFA World Cup later this year.

“My future does not have to depend on whether or not I will have a place in the next World Cup. Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. Many players come out every summer and it’s something we have to live with,” he said.

Real Madrid, for their part, are looking to tie Asensio down to a new contract. Whether he pens the deal or seeks new pastures remains to be seen.
