Marco Asensio has been offered to Tottenham as Real Madrid are ready to sell the attacker in the upcoming transfer window.

According to the print edition of the Sunday Mirror, as relayed by The Boot Room, Marco Asensio could leave Real Madrid in the summer following his contractual situation. They also suggest the 26-year-old has been offered to Tottenham by his agents.

Marco Asensio has achieved unprecedented success at Real Madrid at a very young age, winning the Champions League and La Liga twice. However, Asensio’s performances have been average since his return from a long-term injury. The Spaniard has shown massive improvements this term though and scored 10 goals across all competitions, his best seasonal tally at the club.

The upturn in form prompted Real Madrid to offer new terms on the deal expiring in 2023. There are suggestions that Asensio is unhappy with the proposal and might not sign the deal. Hence the club are prepared to sell him in the next window.

Despite a massive £442 million release clause attached to his current contract, Madrid wants over £30 million from interested clubs in the summer. Arsenal and AC Milan are among clubs keen on the 26-year-old attacker, although no concrete approaches have been made yet.

Asensio could be open to joining Milan, although the club’s financial plight may scupper any possible move. With Madrid willing to sell, the attacker has been offered to multiple clubs by his agents, including Tottenham, who may look at the Spaniard in the summer.

While Spurs have no registered interest in Asensio, he may prove a smart addition to the side. Tottenham may also have an advantage over Arsenal, remaining on course to qualifying for the Champions League next term, as Antonio Conte’s men opened a three-point gap over the Gunners after beating Aston Villa away from home.

£30 million or more may seem reasonable from Tottenham’s point of view for a proven 26-year-old attacker. Conte has forged a tremendous attacking lineup with Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min. And with there being some question marks over Steven Bergwijn’s future, Asensio could come in as a direct replacement.

It is possible Spurs may not have an interest in the attacker, but his profile may suit the team perfectly. As things stand, Asensio may be on course to bidding goodbye to Madrid, where he has spent nearly six years making 228 appearances in the process.
