Manchester United trio David de Gea, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba have shown excitement at the news of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.
In interviews to the media, as quoted by the official Manchester United website, Luke Shaw, David de Gea and Paul Pogba have given their verdict over the Red Devils’ capture of Cristiano Ronaldo. The trio have all shown a lot of excitement over the announcement, claiming Manchester United will benefit from his return.
It has been a news that has come as quite a shocker. Despite years of speculation linking Cristiano Ronaldo with the possibility of returning to Manchester United, very few would have expected the Red Devils to re-sign the veteran Portuguese forward this summer.
However, the move has gone through, with Manchester United set to formally complete the transfer soon. Amid all the fanfare, Manchester United players have also been quizzed about their reaction to the announcement, with Luke Shaw, David de Gea and Paul Pogba giving their verdict on the move.
Shaw said, “I feel like it’s given the club a massive lift not just inside but also outside. Obviously it’s a big positive. He’s been one of the best players in the world for a number of years now. Everyone is excited for him to come in and not just learn off him but be able to play with him too.”
As for de Gea, he replied, “It’s like a dream for all the Manchester United fans, for us. To have him back it is going to be great, you can feel in the atmosphere. Hopefully he can bring something special as well to make the team even better. It’s great to have him.”
Finally, Pogba’s comments were as follows, “Everybody knows [what he brings]. He’s already a legend in this club and he’s coming back, so obviously it’s huge for us, for the club. He’s going to bring his experience, his quality and obviously when he comes the level goes up. We’re really pleased he’s coming but the most important today is the win so when he comes we keep this mentality of winning, and keep winning.”
Manchester United are unbeaten at the start of the season, and the expectations from Ronaldo’s return would be for him to guide the club back to the summit of English football. Whether Ronaldo is able to do that remains to be seen, but for now, his return is sure to excite scores of Manchester United fans, just as it has with the players.
