Cristiano Ronaldo continued a fine year when he was named the world’s best male player at the Best FIFA Football Awards in London on Monday

In a year during which Ronaldo has already played a starring role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League, apart from winning the UEFA Super Cup and Super Copa De Espana as well, the Portuguese superstar also retained the title he won last year.

Ronaldo won 43.16% of the votes and, in the process, beat long-time rival Lionel Messi for the second year running, with Neymar finishing third. Suffice to say, his fans were in celebratory mood following the announcement.

But, Messi’s fans begged to differ, claiming that the Argentine wizard should have instead won the award.

But, there were a few who simply appreciated both legends and their presence in the same generation of footballers.
