Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is reportedly prepared to pack his bags once again and return to Inter Milan.

A recent report from Calciomercato has offered an update on the future of Romelu Lukaku. It appears the player is seemingly unsettled at Stamford Bridge after a difficult start to the season. He could be open to the idea of packing his bags soon in favour of a return to his former club Inter Milan.

The report comes just a few weeks after his explosive interview with Sky Italia, where the star striker opened up on his regret over leaving Inter Milan in the first place and would soon like to return to Giuseppe Meazza. The Belgian was brutally slammed by pundits for his remarks, with even head coach Thomas Tuchel publicly admitting his displeasure towards the comments.

Returning to Stamford Bridge for a whopping figure of around €115 million, Lukaku was brought in to fix the club’s goalscoring woes , especially as Timo Werner struggled to produce the goods.

However, halfway into the new season, he has scored only five goals in 14 Premier League appearances. Three of his five goals have come in the first three matches, with the forward netting just two goals since mid-September. Although injuries and controversy off the pitch have contributed to his problems, the Belgian’s lack of quality performances has now led to speculation over his long-term future at the club.

It has been reported lately that Chelsea are even willing to cash in on Romelu Lukaku in the summer. Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are already prepared to fork out €90 million for the star striker, essentially allowing the Blues the chance to rebuild after a hasty investment.

Lukaku, on his part, seeks a return to Inter Milan, which might not be a possibility anymore. The Nerazzurri have been doing extremely well with the addition of Edin Dzeko, while their board members and fans have been transparent with their displeasure towards the Belgian international.

It leads to a precarious situation for not just Lukaku but also Chelsea, especially if PSG fail to truly come up with €90 million in the summer. Perhaps the best option for the two parties is to work out the situation peacefully and hope that Lukaku finally finds his goalscoring boots in the Premier League during the second half of the campaign.
