Dani Olmo is reportedly not opposed to the idea of joining Manchester City if a move to Barcelona does not see the light of the day.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Dani Olmo’s entourage has been contacted by Manchester City, with the Spanish international considering a move to the Etihad. The RB Leipzig ace has also been courted by Barcelona, whose interest has been cooling in recent weeks.

Olmo joined RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020 and has since continued on his upward trajectory. A regular feature for club and country, the Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the most enterprising attacking players in the Bundesliga. However, the 2021/22 season has been one to forget thus far for him.

The 23-year-old has made six appearances for Leipzig this term, producing one assist in the process. Nevertheless, as far as the transfer market is concerned, Olmo remains one of the most coveted players in Europe, with Barcelona and Manchester City among his prospective suitors.

However, according to El Nacional, Barcelona’s interest in the Spanish international is cooling, which is surprising, considering that the Catalan giants were recently reported to be ready to open talks with him. Instead, Ferran Torres has emerged as the priority target for Barcelona of late.

It has even been claimed that the Manchester City forward has agreed to join Barcelona, with the transfer fee the only detail left to be sorted out. Speaking of, the Premier League champions have recently joined the race to sign Olmo and could become the new favourites for his signature.

The interest in Olmo is understandable amid the uncertainty surrounding Torres and Raheem Sterling, another player linked with Barcelona. Therefore, it is prudent of Manchester City to have identified the 23-year-old as a target, with the Citizens also initiating contact with his entourage.

As per the report, Olmo is now considering a move to Manchester City amid Barcelona’s stance over a move for him next summer. The 23-year-old is attracted by the idea of being coached by Pep Guardiola in addition to playing in the Premier League. However, City will need to fend off competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich to sign Olmo, and it remains to be seen if he moves to the Etihad soon.
