Liverpool are reportedly preparing a massive contract offer worth €30 million per year to beat Real Madrid to the signing of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Liverpool are planning to blow Real Madrid out of the picture in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe by offering him a bumper contract.

Mbappe has established himself as one of the best forwards in the game since bursting out at AS Monaco in 2016/17. Having moved to PSG in 2017, the 22-year-old has achieved great heights at club level while also winning the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with the French national team.

In the final year of his contract, Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Spanish capital outfit made serious efforts to try and sign him from PSG during the summer, but the Ligue 1 giants were unwilling to play ball. However, with the attacker set to become a free agent at the end of the season, a move to Santiago Bernabeu looks like a strong possibility.

Liverpool, however, are plotting to play spoilsport in Real Madrid’s pursuit of the PSG superstar by making a shock swoop. The Reds are at a stage where they need to refresh their options in the attacking unit, considering that Roberto Firmino has entered his thirties while both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are closing in on 30 as well.

Furthermore, Salah’s contract with the Merseyside giants runs out in eighteen months, and a new deal is yet to be agreed upon, leading to speculations surrounding his future. PSG, coincidentally, are among the clubs keen on swooping in for the Egyptian international, with Mbappe’s future uncertain.

Now, Liverpool are said to be eyeing a move for the 22-year-old Frenchman. The report states that the Reds are considering making a massive contract offer worth €30 million per year to convince Mbappe to ignore Real Madrid in favour of a transfer to Anfield.

It is further claimed that they may even make a push for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in January itself. And PSG could sanction a sale to Liverpool to stop Real Madrid from signing him after having been critical of the Merengues’ approach in pursuit of the Frenchman.

Despite the claims, it does seem a tad unlikely that Liverpool would be willing to splash such wages to sign Mbappe. The Reds have a solid wage structure in place and would be unwilling to break it and risk causing any sort of unrest in the dressing room, especially at a time when they have been reluctant to give in to Salah’s wage demands.
