Chelsea are reportedly interested in Federico Valverde, who, in turn, has no intention of leaving Real Madrid anytime soon.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Federico Valverde is the subject of interest from Chelsea over a move in a future transfer window. However, the 23-year-old midfield powerhouse is not even going to entertain the idea of joining the Blues as he is content at Real Madrid.
Federico Valverde joined Real Madrid from Penarol in the summer of 2016 and was initially assigned to their B team. His big break at the Santiago Bernabeu came in the 2018/19 season, and the Uruguayan international has not looked back since, becoming a regular feature for club and country.
To date, the 23-year-old has made 114 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with five goals and seven assists along the way. And with the player transforming into a powerhouse of a midfielder in the last few years, it is not surprising that several big-name suitors have emerged in his pursuit in recent years. One such club are Chelsea.
Chelsea have been reported to be in the market for a midfield reinforcement, which is rather surprising, considering Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been establishing a foothold in the first-team setup once again lately. With both Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher tipped to have bright futures at Stamford Bridge, it is hard to see where a new midfielder would fit in the scheme of things.
Nevertheless, it looks like Thomas Tuchel is keen on adding to his midfield options as he wants to facilitate smoother rotation with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho. To that end, Valverde has emerged as a potential candidate to be the midfield reinforcement that the Chelsea manager is seeking.
However, the Blues’ pursuit of Valverde is not likely to go too far, as the Uruguayan midfield powerhouse has no intention of calling it quits at Real Madrid. Instead, the 23-year-old is hopeful of becoming a long-term solution in the middle of the park for the Merengues, meaning Chelsea will need to turn their attention elsewhere.
Youri Tielemans is reportedly one of the options on Chelsea’s radar, although they will likely face stiff competition in pursuit of the Belgian international. As for their bid to sign Valverde, it looks like Chelsea have no chance of signing the Real Madrid midfielder.
