Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to sign 23-year-old French attacker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Pini Zahavi is looking to engineer a move for another Bundesliga powerhouse to Real Madrid after taking David Alaba to the Santiago Bernabeu. This time around, the Spanish giants have been offered the chance to sign Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku joined RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019 and was an instant hit at the Red Bull Arena. However, after a brilliant 2019/20 campaign, the 23-year-old blew hot and cold last term, although he still remains a key figure for the Bundesliga heavyweights.

The French attacker, though, has made a fine start to the 2021/22 season, with seven goals and three assists in just nine appearances so far, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in RB Leipzig’s opening game in the UEFA Champions League this term. His exploits have not gone unnoticed and it is speculated that a big move could be on the horizon for him.

His agent, Pini Zahavi appears to agree with that if the latest report by Defensa Central is to be believed. That is because the French attacker has been offered to Real Madrid, looking to repeat the trick that took David Alaba from Bayern Munich to the Santiago Bernabeu.

A move for Nkunku could make sense as far as Real Madrid are concerned, as they do appear to be in need of an attacking addition, seeing as Marco Asensio is being linked with a potential exit while Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale are on the wrong side of 30.

While Kylian Mbappe is a priority target for Real Madrid, signing a player like Nkunku could be a step in the right direction as well, considering his versatility. So, even if the 23-year-old is not operating exclusively in the final third, he could be deployed as an attacking midfielder, or even as a no. 8, which in turn makes him a viable target for Real Madrid.

Hence, while wide attackers like Yeremy Pino have been linked with them, the Merengues could be better served by signing someone like Nkunku. However, the French utility man is not interested in leaving RB Leipzig just yet, meaning it will take some convincing for him to join Real Madrid. That being said, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid even make a move for Nkunku or choose to pursue other targets instead.
