Arsenal have once again set their sights on Marco Asensio, with the north London giants plotting another move for the Real Madrid forward.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arsenal are not giving up in their pursuit of Marco Asensio despite failing to secure his services in the summer transfer window. The Gunners have rekindled their chase of the 25-year-old, with Real Madrid not averse to the idea of cashing in on him.

Marco Asensio has endured a topsy turvy ride at Real Madrid over the past half a decade, having experienced the highest of highs while also enduring some plundering lows, with his woes particularly compounding since his return after recovering from a long-term knee injury last year.

The inconsistencies have continued early in the 2021/22 season as well as apart from a hat-trick against former club RCD Mallorca, the 25-year-old has not delivered the goods as much as he would have liked. However, despite blowing hot and cold, the interest in him has not waned, with Arsenal looking to swoop him away from Real Madrid.

The Gunners had been keen on signing the Spanish international in the summer transfer window as well, and even lodged a £34 million bid to land him. However, Carlo Ancelotti was unwilling to let Asensio leave, meaning Arsenal were unable to prise him from Real Madrid.

The north Londoners, though, remain in the market for an attacking reinforcement, as they look to add more quality to their squad to complement the abilities of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. To that end, Arsenal have been linked with Noa Lang, Anthony Martial and Manor Solomon, among others.

Asensio, too, is a viable target for the Premier League heavyweights, with his versatility making him a potential asset for Mikel Arteta, who favours players who are versatile. And, as per the report, Real Madrid will not stand in his way if Arsenal produce an attractive enough offer.

The Merengues are awaiting a big summer transfer window which will see them attempt to make a number of big signings, meaning liquidity will be key. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Arsenal’s eventual bid for Asensio ends up convincing Real Madrid to cash in on the Spanish forward.
