Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for Yves Bissouma ahead of a potential January move.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Yves Bissouma. The Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder is one of the top targets for the Premier League giants, in the upcoming winter transfer window and it appears they have already reached an agreement with the Seagulls ahead of a potential transfer in January.

This could be a major coup for Liverpool considering the fact that they hadn’t signed a direct replacement for Gini Wijnaldum in the summer after he moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. In fact, the Reds had made only one notable acquisition in the form of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

But in Bissouma, Klopp could find himself an ideal option to replenish the midfield department. Indeed, the Brighton star can add some aggression and youthful exuberance to a side that has been criticised for over-relying on ageing players by none other than former striker Michael Owen.

In addition to depth, the Malian international also provides significant experience in the Premier League, as he has racked up over 100 competitive appearances for the Seagulls since joining the club in 2018.

From a sporting perspective, Bissouma is an excellent direct replacement for Wijnaldum. He brings aggression, pace and dynamism in midfield, thus making him an ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp’s tactical setup. And most importantly, the 25-year-old could be a vital long-term asset for the club, especially with James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara all into their thirties.

Earlier this month, the Malian did hint of a potential move away to a bigger club in an official interview with the club. A January move to Anfield could thus make perfect sense, although Liverpool have to make a lot of ground in order to actually facilitate the transfer.

Brighton could have been the biggest thorn in the side with their demands for the midfielder. However, despite significant investments needed, Liverpool have managed to strike an agreement over the signing of the 25-year-old Bissouma, as per the aforementioned report.

It remains to be seen if there is any truth to these claims, considering that Brighton have made a fine start to the season and would be apprehensive to lose their best player midway through the campaign.

Yves Bissouma? Goodness, no. Grossly over rated. Absolutely lazy.
