Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing 32-year-old Czech free agent Tomas Vaclik on a Bosman move this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona’s search for a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window has taken them to the market for free agents. The latest player to have emerged on the radar of the Catalan giants is Tomas Vaclik, who is being targeted for a Bosman move.

Tomas Vaclik is on the verge of officially ending his three-year stint with Sevilla, having joined the Andalusian club from FC Basel in the summer of 2018. The 32-year-old soon-to-be free agent is coming off of a forgettable 2020/21 campaign, wherein he was usurped by Bono in the pecking order for goalkeepers.

As a result, Vaclik managed just eight appearances across all competitions all season long, keeping a couple of clean sheets. With his stint with Sevilla now all but concluded, Vaclik could be set for a move to an even bigger club, with Barcelona showing interest in snapping him up in the summer transfer window.

For years, Barcelona’s goalkeeping department has been one area that has been in no real need of being bolstered apart from the odd shuffling of the backup shot-stopper. The last time such a shuffle took place was two years ago, when Neto arrived from Valencia, with Jasper Cillessen going the other way.

However, Neto is now yearning for regular playing time and is eager to call it quits at Barcelona, with Arsenal and West Ham United among the clubs linked with him. As a result, the Blaugrana are being forced to enter the market for a backup goalkeeper this summer.

To that end, Barcelona have targeted Leo Jardim, Andre Onana and a few others, with Vaclik now popping up on their radar. At 32, he might not be a spring chicken. However, after making a big impression at UEFA Euro 2020, he is being viewed as a viable target, especially considering he will not cost anything in the way of a transfer fee.

Apart from Vaclik, the report claims that Pau Lopez is also the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible summer move. What now remains to be seen is if Barcelona end up launching the offensive for Vaclik or if they turn their attention towards someone else. The options for the Catalan giants do seem to be beefing up.
