Borussia Dortmund have handed Manchester United a transfer ultimatum for Jadon Sancho, with the Bundesliga giants demanding £77 million plus add-ons.

Last summer’s transfer horror may come back to haunt Manchester United once again, as Borussia Dortmund have now handed them a transfer ultimatum for Jadon Sancho, as per the latest report from talkSPORT.

The Bundesliga giants are keen on sealing the deal before their pre-season training camp starts on 23rd July. They have also slapped a “take it or leave it” price tag of £77 million plus add-ons, which is significantly less than their £100 million valuation last summer.

Manchester United, regardless, are reluctant to meet their demands. Reports in Germany even suggest that Dortmund are not convinced that the English club truly value the player, which is perhaps why they have now set an ultimatum.

England coach Gareth Southgate has already caused a lot of furore among Bundesliga fans for refusing to play Sancho in the first two group games in UEFA Euro 2020. He was not even included in the matchday day squad in the win over Croatia while the winger sat out on the bench in the goalless draw with Scotland.

Earlier last week, Manchester United were reportedly weighing up an improved second bid worth around £75 million after being rebuffed in their initial attempt – an offer of just £69 million.

The Red Devils, though, are aware of the financial implication of sanctioning such a deal, especially in the current economic climate. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t averse to spend the big bucks in the market, it appears the Norwegian tactician is unsure of Sancho’s quality, despite the winger’s stellar success in the Bundesliga over the past three seasons.

The Englishman has been involved in as many as 20 league goals this past season, playing a vital role in helping Dortmund secure qualification for the Champions League and winning the DFB Pokal. It has put the Black and Yellows in an excellent position to hold onto the services of not only Sancho but also Erling Haaland, who is courted by Chelsea.

The Bundesliga giants, though, are not expected to get in Sancho’s way should he opt to seek pastures new. The winger, in fact, had already agreed personal terms with Manchester United as early as last season. Still, the negotiations over a transfer fee have proven to be difficult for the Premier League outfit.

Dortmund, though, are still hopeful that the deal will go through, with the club already scouting several potential replacements. Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi was a candidate earlier in the summer, although it seems BVB are more inclined towards another Englishman in Noni Madueke.
