Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Jadon Sancho, who is set to be offered a bumper £350,000-a-week contract.

According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Manchester United are closing in on the capture of Jadon Sancho. The Premier League giants are confident of completing a deal after UEFA Euro 2020, with the 21-year-old already agreeing personal terms worth an astonishing £350,000-a-week.

Manchester United’s biggest problem was the negotiation with Borussia Dortmund. The German outfit are holding out for a fee of at least £78 million, after declining United’s initial bid of around £60 million.

The Red Devils, though, are now expected to match the £78 million, with an additional £10 million set to be paid in add-ons. The move will make Sancho the most expensive player in Manchester United’s history, breaking the record previously held by Harry Maguire.

A product of the Manchester City youth academy, Sancho has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a long time now. He was initially expected to move out last summer, but Manchester United’s waiting game cost them in the end.

Dortmund are said to have a gentleman’s agreement with the 21-year-old English international, which states that the club, although in position to keep hold of both him and Erling Haaland for another year, will not restrict the player from moving if he desires to do so.

Similarly, Sancho will have to be content with another season in the Bundesliga if any deal fails to go through. The English winger has already been quite professional with the situation, refusing to even rule out an extended stay in Germany amid links with Manchester United.

The 21-year-old, nevertheless, appears to keen on a switch to Manchester United as he looks to prove himself in the Premier League. The youngster has already had a lot of success in the Bundesliga, scoring 38 goals and providing 51 assists in just over 100 league matches.

As far as Dortmund are concerned, they do have their plans without their prized winger heading into the summer transfer window. In fact, the Black and Yellows are reportedly interested in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, as a potential replacement for the Manchester United target.

The Blues, in turn, are eyeing a move for another Dortmund’s top talent in Haaland. Reports suggest that the Norwegian international is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, but the player is expected to cost in excess of £150 million.

Haaland and Sancho’s combined departure should give the Bundesliga giants enough funds to not only recoup the money they lost in the pandemic but also rebuild the team under new coach Marco Rose next season. For now, though, it remains to be seen if Manchester United can get a deal over the line for Sancho a year after failing to secure his services.
