Wolves winger Adama Traore has emerged as a shock target for Chelsea, as Thomas Tuchel prepares for summer reinforcements this summer.

Thomas Tuchel is going to be the luckiest manager in this upcoming summer transfer window, with Chelsea likely to give him full freedom to rebuild his squad following the recent triumph in the UEFA Champions League. The German has already begun his preparations for the new season and is interested in the services of Adama Traore among many others, The Telegraph reports.

The Wolves attacker is widely tipped to leave the Molineux in the summer, after enduring a difficult campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo. Chelsea, though, are not considering him as an attacking option. In fact, Tuchel wants to bring Adama as potential reinforcement in the wing-back department. His team clearly lacks options in that position, especially on the right-hand side, where Reece James is the only one that can be trusted.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is another option, but the winger appears to have become a subject of interest for Borussia Dortmund, among many other clubs. His departure should pave the way ideally for someone like Traore to fit in at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard, though, hasn’t had the best of seasons. Although there has been no shortage of game-time, the attacker’s performances have been quite underwhelming. In 37 matches, he has netted only two goals while registering three assists.

Adama’s lack of productivity have led to a rather mediocre campaign for Wolves, who finished the season behind the likes of Everton, Arsenal and the newly-promoted Leeds United. The player himself even makes a strong case being one of the top disappointments of the Premier League season.

However, that hasn’t deterred Tuchel from showing interest in the 25-year-old, who does indeed boast great pace and aggression. His overall athletic nature fits in rather well, not only to the Premier League but also to Tuchel’s tactical setup.

The former La Masia graduate can not only provide competition for James but also provide back-up for wingers like Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Kai Havertz. Chelsea, though, are indeed on the hunt for more accomplished attackers, with Jadon Sancho appearing as one of the top targets. Chelsea, though, are set to face stiff competition in their pursuit of Adama from other European heavyweights like FC Barcelona and Manchester City.
