Manchester United are reportedly primed to make their first offer to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Tribal Football, Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. In fact, the Red Devils could lodge an opening offer with the Premier League rivals for the English goal machine as early as this week.

Kane is widely regarded as one of the very best players in the game at the moment, having grown exponentially since first taking the Premier League by storm in the 2013/14 season. Now the single-most influential player for Tottenham Hotspur, the England captain is enjoying the best season of his career, as he leads the Golden Boot race as well as the assists charts in the Premier League.

In 47 appearances across all competitions, Kane has a phenomenal return of 37 goals and 16 assists to show for his efforts. However, his future at Tottenham is under threat, with widespread reports suggesting that the 27-year-old is keen on seeking a new challenge after growing frustrated by a lack of silverware at Spurs. This situation has piqued the interest of Manchester United.

Manchester United’s interest in Kane is not new, as they have been hot on the trails of Kane for quite some time now. Heading into the summer transfer window, though, their pursuit of the Englishman has intensified, perhaps due to the struggles of Anthony Martial this season.

The Frenchman has indeed been a shell of the player who finished as the Red Devils’ top scorer last term, and has been linked with a possible summer exit. While Edinson Cavani has been marvellous since joining on a free transfer and has committed his future to Manchester United, it is important to note that his game-time needs to be managed, seeing as he is well into his thirties.

Mason Greenwood is one for the future, but with the Jadon Sancho situation being delicately poised, the English prodigy could well spend one more season largely playing from the right wing. As a result, the interest in Kane makes a great deal of sense, with Manchester United now possibly being set to table their opening offer for the Tottenham goal machine this week itself.

What will now be interesting to see is whether Spurs entertain the offer from the record Premier League champions, or if the bid is rebuffed. For now, what appears to be certain is that the time is right for Kane to leave Tottenham, with Manchester United being a possible destination.
