Mason Greenwood will return, while Daniel James and Anthony Martial will be in contention to feature when Manchester United face Fulham on Tuesday.

Manchester United will be hoping to confirm second place in the 2020/21 Premier League when they play hosts to Fulham at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. And, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to welcome a couple of players back into the fold this midweek.

Daniel James and Anthony Martial have been a part of full training in the build-up to the game and are in contention to feature against Fulham. However, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire continues to be on the sidelines due to an ankle injury sustained ten days ago.

Speaking to the Manchester United media, Solskjaer provided an update on the trio, saying, “We had a couple of days off after the Liverpool match and we’ve welcomed Dan James back and Anthony Martial back so that’s big, big plusses for us. We didn’t lose any against Liverpool so we’re fit. We’re only missing Harry and Phil.”

“They [Daniel and Anthony] have done all their rehab programmes and ticked all the boxes so a couple of days of training before the game with the team, but they’re not ready to start a game yet. Let’s see. Hopefully, we can get both of them on the pitch and give them some minutes. We’ll give him [Maguire] as much time as possible to recover. We’re not going to see him back in the league so hopefully we can welcome him back for the final.”

James and Martial are unlikely to make the starting lineup, but could get some minutes off the bench. With that in mind, the attacking unit should continue to feature Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani, with Mason Greenwood likely to return on the right wing.

Greenwood’s return means Paul Pogba will drop into the midfield double pivot, where he should line up alongside Scott McTominay. That means Fred will be benched, with Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek also being options on the bench.

At the back, the bone of contention is whether Eric Bailly gets the nod despite a sub-par showing against Liverpool. However, Bailly should be given the go-ahead at the heart of the Manchester United defence, with Victor Lindelof being his partner. Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be the two full-backs while Dean Henderson takes his place in goal against Fulham.

Manchester United Predicted XI: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani
