Jadon Sancho, who is a summer transfer target for both Chelsea and Manchester United, has reportedly set his sights on a return to England.

According to a report from German publication BILD, Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho as the 21-year-old winger is keen on securing a return to England before the next season.

Sancho, since making the jump to Dortmund from Manchester City back in 2017, has established himself as the finest young attackers in the game. A mainstay in attack for the Black and Yellows, the 21-year-old has become a regular fixture in the England national team as well. While there has been a dip in his performances compared to last season, Sancho has still managed to put up amazing numbers of 14 goals and 18 assists so far in 2020/21.

It is no secret that Manchester United spent the entire last summer trying to sign Sancho from Dortmund but at the end the efforts were in vain as they were unable to convince the German giants to lower their asking price. However, having not adequately addressed the right-wing issue as of yet, the Red Devils are still in the market for one, with Sancho back among the targets, along with the likes of Pedro Neto and Ousmane Dembele.

Manchester United, though, have been joined by arch-rivals Chelsea in pursuit of the 21-year-old England international. While the Blues have a well-stocked attacking unit at their disposal currently, the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have lacked that element of consistency in their debut campaigns. And with Callum Hudson-Odoi unable to kick on as expected, adding someone like Sancho would certainly be a major boost.

Borussia Dortmund, if the last summer was anything to go by, would pose a major stumbling block for a deal to go through. However, this time out there is some hope for both Manchester United and Chelsea that a move could see the light of the day as BVB chief, Michael Zorc, revealed last week that the club had a gentleman’s agreement to let Sancho leave under certain conditions.

In addition to that, it is now being claimed that Sancho is keen on returning to England at the end of the ongoing campaign, with the report adding that Manchester United and Chelsea are the only realistic destinations for the ex-Manchester City academy ace, even though there has been interest in his services from outgoing Premier League champions Liverpool.

It now remains to be seen if a move does materialise this time around and if so, whether it will be Chelsea or Manchester United who seal the deal for Sancho. For now, the 21-year-old seems intent on securing a return to Italy.
