Barcelona have reportedly been contacted by Mino Raiola over a possible move to sign Alessio Romaganoli in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Mino Raiola has made an exploratory contact with Barcelona over a possible move for Alessio Romagnoli in the summer transfer window. The AC Milan captain is facing an uncertain future at San Siro.

Romagnoli has progressed leaps and bounds since joining AC Milan in the summer of 2015. Over the past half-a-decade or so, the 26-year-old Italian international has gone on to establish himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A, raking in 219 appearances in the process.

However, his future at San Siro is highly uncertain, seeing as his current deal runs out in just over a year’s time and an offer over a new contract has not been forthcoming, as per the report. This has led to widespread speculation over the player’s future at AC Milan, with Barcelona emerging as a potential destination for him.

Barcelona reportedly remain in the transfer market for a centre-back despite suggestions that Eric Garcia is set to arrive at Camp Nou on a Bosman deal. Indeed, it has been claimed that Garcia will come in as a long-term successor for Gerard Pique, with the Blaugrana now in search of a left-footed centre-back to replace Samuel Umtiti.

To that end, Barcelona have been linked with Marcos Sensei, Jorge Cuenca and Lisandro Martinez among others, with Romagnoli also rumoured to be a possible option. And now, it looks like the procedure to take the 26-year-old Italian international from Milan to Barcelona could have begun, with Mino Raiola, his agent, establishing exploratory contact with the Catalan giants.

The report further adds that if Umtiti were to leave, it is Romagnoli whose pursuit might take preference for Barcelona. As for the player’s current situation with the Rossoneri, the emergence of Fikayo Tomori has left him in a bit of a soup, with Stefano Pioli often favouring the Chelsea loanee to his club captain.

For now, it looks like the possibility of Romagnoli making his way to Camp Nou could be a reality soon. However, as things stand, Barcelona have merely been contact by Mino Raiola and it remains to be seen if they swoop the 26-year-old away from AC Milan this coming summer.
