Chelsea are reportedly one of three clubs that have tabled an offer to Liverpool to secure the services of Mohamed Salah this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on re-signing Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window. The Blues have, in fact, lodged an offer with Premier League rivals for the Egyptian forward, who is also the subject of interest from Juventus and PSG.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, returning to the Premier League after having previously played for Chelsea. The 28-year-old, though, shocked one and all by showcasing a prolific side of his game that was never seen before. In his very first season with the Reds, Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot before doing a repeat one year later.

Liverpool’s top scorer in each of the seasons since arriving in 2017, he is leading the way for the Premier League champions this season as well. In all, the Egyptian international has a brilliant tally of 120 goals and 45 assists in 193 appearances for Liverpool. But, ahead of the summer transfer window, his future at Anfield is uncertain, which has piqued the interest of Chelsea and others.

Chelsea bolstered their attack quite heavily last summer as part of a squad overhaul that saw Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech join the club. However, while Havertz is starting to settle in at Stamford Bridge after a slow start, Werner has struggled to adapt altogether, whereas Ziyech has been hampered by injuries.

In addition, there have been claims that Christian Pulisic could be on his way out of the club in the summer, with Ziyech and Werner facing an uncertain future as well. As a result, it is not hard to see why Chelsea could enter the transfer market for attacking reinforcements this coming summer, with Salah a viable target for the Blues, who have already tabled an offer to Liverpool for him.

It has previously been suggested that Liverpool could be open to cashing in on Salah to fund a move for Kylian Mbappe. And, as per Fichajes, that appears to be the Reds’ stance on Salah at present as well, with issues in the dressing room being cited as one of the reasons. That is why Liverpool are set to consider the offer from Chelsea, in addition to those lodged by Juventus and PSG.

Real Madrid had previously been interested in signing Salah as well, but are set to prioritise a move for Mbappe and Erling Haaland instead, as per the report. With Thomas Tuchel keen on singing a right-sided winger, Salah is just the kind of player to pursue for the Chelsea boss.

The 28-year-old himself is open to the prospect of rejoining Chelsea, as he is well-versed with the surroundings at the club. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Liverpool accept their offer or refuse to strengthen a direct rival come the summer transfer window.
