Arsenal are reportedly continuing to keep tabs on Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, who has been a rare bright spot in a disappointing campaign for Los Che.

According to a report from Spanish publication Eldesmarque, Arsenal have reignited their interest in Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, with the La Liga club potentially open to a sale in January owing to their difficult financial situation.

Soler came through the youth ranks at Valencia and broke into the senior team in 2016, at the age of 19. Since then, the central midfielder has grown into a mainstay for Los Che, racking up 164 appearances so far in which he has 17 goals and 22 assists.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been one of Valencia’s most important players this season as they struggle in the relegation zone in La Liga. Even though he endured a slow start to the campaign due to coronavirus, Soler has posted a tally of six goals and five assists from 13 appearances in all competitions in 2020/21.

Given Valencia’s dire financial situation, it is being claimed that the Spanish outfit would be receptive to offers for their players in the January transfer window. And, this has seemingly alerted Arsenal, who were linked with a move for Soler last year.

Arsenal have had a difficult start to their Premier League campaign, but three wins on the trot over the last week has meant they are turning things around. However, given the performances so far, it goes without saying that Mikel Arteta could do with the injection of some new faces into the squad in January.

The midfield department, in particular, can do with some rejig as Dani Ceballos has flattered to deceive since returning for a second loan stint from Real Madrid. Furthermore, the Spaniard is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates amid interest from Italy, which could force Arsenal into dipping their toes in the market for a new midfielder.

And, Soler, to that end, would be a viable target for the North London giants. Despite being just 23, the Spaniard has accumulated plenty of experience at the highest level and has shown immense potential. And even though he has over two years left on his current contract with Valencia, their poor financial situation could pave the way for a sale this month.

Arsenal also considering a January raid on Scottish champions Celtic for midfielder Ryan Christie. So, it will be interesting to see if they do make a move for Soler or not. As things stand though, the Gunners are continuing to monitor the 23-year-old Spanish ace.
