Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old Spaniard Carlos Soler from Valencia in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Arsenal are keen on snapping up Carlos Soler in the summer transfer window. Head coach Mikel Arteta is looking to recruit players from La Liga this summer and is an admirer of the 23-year-old Spanish midfielder.

Carlos Soler has been a part of Valencia since he was an 8-year-old, rapidly progressing through the ranks at the club before breaking into first-team setup at the Mestalla in the 2016-17 season. Now into his fourth season with the senior side, the 23-year-old has become a key figure for Los Che.

Soler, though, has struggled to be at his consistent best in the 2019-20 season, but his stock remains high. In fact, the player continues to be regarded highly despite what appears to be a blip of a campaign, with Arsenal showing an interest in the Spanish midfielder.

Arsenal do appear to be in the need to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window. While Dani Ceballos has showed flashes of brilliance so far during his loan spell, there is uncertainty as to whether the Gunners will be able to sign the Spanish playmaker on a permanent deal this summer.

If Ceballos does leave, Arsenal will be in need of signing a midfielder, with Mesut Ozil the only other player capable of providing the creativity needed in the final third. As a result, the Gunners have been linked with a fair few midfielders lately, with the list also including Marcel Sabitzer.

Now, though, Soler has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta an admirer of the player, as suggested by Sky Sports. While the 23-year-old has primarily featured on the right side of the midfield for La Liga giants Valencia, he is just as adept at playing as either a central midfielder or an attacking midfielder.

Hence, Soler could be a like-for-like replacement for compatriot Ceballos, if he does return to Real Madrid at the end of his loan spell. Meanwhile, with Valencia having to raise around £36 million to balance their books, the Valencia playmaker could be available for a cut-price fee, even though he still has over three years left on his current deal at the Mestalla.

What now remains to be seen is if Arsenal follow through with their interest in the player with a concrete offer. When that happens, it will be interesting to see if Valencia show any inclination to sell the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.
