Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is reportedly on the radar of Italian champions Juventus over a move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Juventus are interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal in the summer transfer window. The Bianconeri are preparing to offload Gonzalo Higuain in the coming weeks and are, therefore, in search of a top class replacement for the Argentine.

Lacazette joined Arsenal from Lyon in the summer of 2017 and became an instant hit at the club, as Arsene Wenger appointed him as the first-choice striker. Despite the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Frenchman only went from strength to strength at the Emirates, and was named the Gunners’ Player of the Year for the 2018/19 season.

However, the current campaign was nothing short of horrific for the 29-year-old, who had a rather underwhelming tally of 12 goals and 7 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. A faltering season has led to widespread speculation over his future at Arsenal. And now, Serie A champions Juventus are showing an interest in Lacazette.

The Bianconeri are in a transitional period following the sacking of Maurizio Sarri this month. Andrea Pirlo has been appointed as Sarri’s replacement and a new era beckons at Juventus, who are likely to undergo some major squad changes in the summer transfer window.

Several ageing figures are likely to be offloaded, with Blaise Matuidi already joining MLS club Inter Miami. Gonzalo Higuain is expected to join the Frenchman out the exit door at the Allianz Stadium and Juventus, while Paulo Dybala has also been linked with a possible departure. As a result, the Italian champions have turned their attention towards Arsenal in search of replacements.

While Lacazette did endure a difficult 2019/20 campaign, a change of scenery and role could bring the best out of him. At 29, he ought to be at the peak of his powers, thereby making him a viable target for Juventus. There have been suggestions that Arsenal are open to cashing in on Lacazette, with Memphis Depay and others named as possible replacements.

As far as Juventus are concerned, Lacazette is one of several names on their shortlist, with the likes of Raul Jimenez, Duvan Zapata, Alvaro Morata, Arkadiusz Milik and Edin Dzeko also of interest to the Bianconeri, apart from the Arsenal forward.

What will now be interesting to see is if it really is time up for Lacazette for Arsenal. If the north Londoners do decide to part ways with the French striker, chances are Juventus could pounce on the situation by making him Higuain’s immediate replacement.
