Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Julian Draxler, valued at £36 million by PSG, who wish to cash in on him this summer.

According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Arsenal are keenly interested in snapping up Julian Draxler, who is valued at £36 million by PSG, in the summer transfer window. The German international is the subject of interest from Hertha Berlin and another Premier League club, with Les Parisiens ready to offload him.

Draxler joined PSG from VfL Wolfsburg in January 2017, with the move appearing to be a masterstroke on the part of the French heavyweights. However, three years since the transfer was completed, the player has failed to stamp his authority at Parc des Princes, never quite managing to become a regular.

This season, Draxler has been at his lowest ebb since becoming a senior footballer, starting just 12 games across all competitions. However, the fact that the 26-year-old was once rated as one of the most promising young attackers in Europe is seemingly not lost on a few prospective suitors, one of whom are Arsenal.

The Gunners are in a transitional phase at the present, with the squad settling under Mikel Arteta. It is likely that Arsenal will have a squad transformation of sorts in the summer. The defensive issues will likely be addressed, with Layvin Kurzawa reportedly set to become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer, while Dani Ceballos is expected to return to Real Madrid for good.

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil’s future is up in the air, perhaps in part due to his astronomical wages. All things considered, Arsenal could enter the market for midfield reinforcements in the summer, with Bayern Munich star Corentin Tolisso among those linked with a possible move.

Amid all this, Draxler has emerged as a target. The going might have been tough for the German international at PSG, but he has still shown the spark every now and then. If he can rediscover his best touch, the 26-year-old could become a top asset for Arsenal, provided they do sign him.

The Sun suggest that PSG could demand £36 million for Draxler, which is not a steep valuation. As a result, Arsenal could be in with a chance to sign him. However, his £120,000-a-week wages appear to be a stumbling block, with the Gunners unwilling to pay him such a package.

So, it looks like, if Draxler does move to Arsenal, he will have to take a pay cut. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin and another Premier League club are also interested in signing the PSG man, and it remains to be seen if Arsenal can beat the other suitors to acquire the services of the player. For now, what appears to be certain is that the German international has no future at PSG.
