PSG are planning a double-raid on the Premier League with Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal emerging as targets.

According to a report from BBC Sport, Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are transfer targets for Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer transfer window.

It has been a strange season for PSG, despite winning the Ligue 1 title comfortably. Thomas Tuchel’s men were dumped out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage by Manchester United, while they failed to go all the way in the domestic cup competitions as well, forcing them to consider strengthening their ranks ahead of next term.

PSG already boast one of the most star-studded attacks with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani in their ranks, along with Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler. However, recent reports have claimed that Cavani could be on his way out this summer, with the club looking to offload him.

And as per the report from BBC, PSG are now eyeing Premier League duo Firmino and Aubameyang in order to boost up their attack further.

Firmino has become a key cog at Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp took over the reins at Anfield. A pivotal part of the team, the Brazilian has had an excellent 2018-19 campaign, during which he has netted 16 goals and assisted 8 more from 47 matches in all competitions, helping Liverpool to a second-place finish in the Premier League and the Champions League finals.

PSG manager Tuchel will have seen Firmino from close quarters from his Bundesliga days and with international teammate Neymar in the ranks as well, it makes sense that Les Parisiens would consider the possibility of signing him up.

Aubameyang has had a spectacular campaign that saw him finish as the joint top-scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals. The Gabonese forward has also netted 8 times in the Europa League, firing Arsenal to the finals of the competition, while setting up 8 more goals in all competitions.

The 29-year-old, who joined Arsenal in January last year, flourished under the tutelage of Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund. So, it is not all that shocking that the German tactician would explore the possibility of a reunion with Aubameyang, if PSG sell Cavani this summer.

However, the French champions are likely to be met with disappointment on both fronts as neither of Arsenal or Liverpool have any interest in losing their star forwards.

Aubameyang has two years left on his current contract with Arsenal. The Gabon striker has struck up a deadly partnership with Alexandre Lacazette and the Gunners would not want to break it up, as they look to challenge for titles and trophies under Unai Emery.

Firmino, on the other hand, penned a new deal with Liverpool last year, extending his stay at Anfield till 2023 and is viewed as an integral part of the team by manager Klopp, as the Reds look to topple Manchester City as the English champions next season.

PSG’s pursuit of Firmino and Aubameyang is unlikely to yield any result and the French champions would be better off focusing their attention elsewhere.
