Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane can solve Real Madrid’s weakness in attack according to the Senegalese speedster’s former teammate Oriol Romeu.

In a recent interview, Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has claimed that his former teammate and Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane is ready to make the big move to Real Madrid in the summer, as reported by The Sun.

Sadio Mane has been in sensational form for Liverpool in recent weeks and has been outshining last season’s leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah with ease. The Senegalese speedster has been one of the chief driving forces behind the Reds’ Premier League title charge along with defensive mainstay Virgil van Dijk.

The 26-year-old Mane has found the back of the net on 20 occasions from 38 matches across all competitions this season, while he has also assisted four goals. The attacker has netted 11 goals in his last 11 matches in all competitions and this kind of red-hot form has piqued the interest of reigning European champions Real Madrid.

The Merengues are in the market for a new marquee addition to their attacking contingent after what has been a disappointing campaign on many levels so far. And Mane’s exquisite performances of late have put him firmly on their radar.

And now, Mane’s former Southampton teammate Oriol Romeu has backed the 26-year-old to make the switch to the Real Madrid, claiming that he would help the Spanish capital club address the problems in their attack.

As quoted by The Sun, the former Chelsea midfielder said, “He is ready. Madrid are a little weak in attack and he’s the type of player that does a lot of damage in open spaces. He could help them reverse their current situation. He brings variation in attack, but he’s not a prolific goalscorer like Cristiano Ronaldo, who goes well above [other forwards].”

Further praising the Senegalese forward, Romeu added, “He is a very electric and dizzying player. He has exceptional physical and technical qualities. At Liverpool he’s grown a lot. This season, he’s enjoying his best season in front of goal. I think he’s acquired calmness and composure when finishing moves, either scoring or assisting. That is key.”

Mane is entering the peak years of his career and certainly has what it takes to become a key player for Real Madrid. However, given how important he is for Liverpool, a sale is highly unlikely, although should push come to shove, the Reds are reportedly going to demand Real Madrid send Marco Asensio to Anfield as part of the deal.

Mane signed a new contract with Liverpool in November last year, extending his stay at the club till the summer of 2023. It remains to be seen though, if he remains in Merseyside come next season or if he will be plying his trade for Real Madrid.
