PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is already said to have an agreement with Barcelona, reportedly prefers a move to Liverpool over Tottenham.

Tottenham are leaving no stones unturned in their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot. But, the PSG midfielder, who reportedly already has a personal agreement in place with Barcelona, is not too keen on a move to the North London outfit. Rabiot instead, harbours wishes of playing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to Paris United.

While Tottenham may be interested and were pushing hard at one point, the report might be a bit of a hoax, with Adrien Rabiot publicly stating earlier that Spurs are ‘below his level’. The playmaker is said to have agreed personal terms with Barcelona but is still contracted to PSG, who could yet sell the player in January to rake in some fee.

Rabiot was the golden boy of PSG. Coming through the academy ranks, the midfielder managed to cement his place in the first-team setup despite the lavish spending habits of the club in recent times. A key player for the present and future, Rabiot was considered by many to be the player PSG were building their team around.

But, his insistence to not sign a new deal, with his current one set to expire at the end of the season, has run him into troubled waters, with PSG now refusing to allow the player to be part of the Matchday squads until his future is resolved.

Barcelona have always been interested in Rabiot and are said to be close to sealing his transfer. But, according to several outlets, it was between Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot. With Barcelona announcing a deal in place for de Jong to arrive in the summer, Rabiot might not be heading to the Nou Camp at the end of the season.

There are multiple other clubs interested though, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham all said to be taking a long hard look at the prospect of signing the playmaker.

Tottenham just bid adieu to their prime playmaker in central midfield, Mousa Dembele, who is the latest player to test the waters of the Chinese Super League. With no real creative star to rely on in central midfield, Spurs are looking to bring Rabiot in, especially with just six months left on his PSG contract.

The reports iterate that Tottenham have lodged a cut-price bid to land Rabiot. But, the player himself is not too keen on a move to Spurs. The playmaker prefers Liverpool, who are also in the race.

The Liverpool links though, fail to make much sense. An overcrowded squad already, with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum all quality midfielders. With Jurgen Klopp recently shifting to a 4-2-3-1 formation, there are only two spots up for grabs.

In such a situation, a move to Liverpool would be less than ideal for Rabiot, who would likely be strapped for game time at Anfield. As far as minutes are concerned, a move to Tottenham does make sense for the French international.

But, one has to wonder if the player will join a club who he recently slated as being ‘below his level’. Stranger things have happened in the footballing world, though, so it would not be too much of a surprise if Rabiot does end up at Tottenham.
