Adrien Rabiot, who is out of contract in the summer of 2019, has reportedly agreed terms with Barcelona over a potential transfer to the Spanish giants.

French publication Le Parisien has reported a sensational update as far as the Adrien Rabiot contract situation is concerned. The French midfielder has reportedly agreed terms with Barcelona over a move and is likely to leave PSG for the Catalan giants in the near future.

Adrien Rabiot emerged from the PSG academy at a time when the French giants had become a cash-rich entity, with the club having a treasury at their disposal to reinforce their squad. But, the midfielder soon became a household name at the club and till date, has 227 senior appearances to his credit.

But, for a while now, Rabiot’s contract has been the talk of the transfer window, with the Frenchman not ready to commit to a new deal. The player has been linked to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool and a few other clubs. But, Barcelona had been the most aggressively linked one among them.

Barcelona reinforced their midfield with Arturo Vidal and Arthur in the summer. While the Brazilian is quickly becoming a regular fixture at Nou Camp, Vidal has struggled to get minutes under his belt and is likely to be considered surplus to requirements. Denis Suarez has been linked with a January move to the Premier League, thus creating space for a fresh arrival.

Rabiot’s exit from PSG had become a matter of when rather than if. And if the report from Le Parisien is anything to go by, Barcelona have managed to reach an agreement with Adrien Rabiot over a transfer. A date however, has not been mentioned, meaning the move is likely to take place when Rabiot’s PSG contract expires.

One detrimental aspect of the proposed deal is that, according to the report, PSG have decided to omit Rabiot for all future games for the club till the Frenchman’s contract expires or he moves to Barcelona.

Both PSG and Rabiot would be glad to end their association in January. But, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona are prepared to negotiate a fee with PSG as to a January transfer. If Barcelona do not lodge a bid in January, Rabiot might have to stay at PSG till the summer and be devoid of regular football, which is criminal for a player of his age.
