Neymar is reportedly keen on returning to Barcelona, with the Brazilian superstar now regretting last year’s acrimonious departure to join PSG

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Neymar is pining for a return to former club Barcelona, with his stint at PSG starting to turn sour. The Brazilian international regrets joining the French champions, and is missing several of his ex-teammates and their camaraderie.

Neymar sent shock waves across the footballing world last year when he decided to end his spectacular four-year stint at Barcelona to join PSG in a world record deal. The move to the French capital has been quite fruitful, with the player easily being among the finest on show in French football.

At PSG, Neymar’s staggering record speaks for himself, with the player notching up 39 goals and 20 assists in 41 appearances. But, despite the solid record, the 26-year-old is happy and content with life at Parc des Princes.

Neymar still does not feel fully settled in Paris, and is even regretting the move to PSG, where he is starting to feel overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe. So much so, that the player is ready to make himself available to former club Barcelona.

The prospect of re-signing Neymar might sound like an appealing one for Barcelona, with the 26-year-old previously forging a formidable attacking trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. With the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Malcom in tow, the potential to do one better with the player’s return is certainly a realistic one.

But, the financials involved in bringing Neymar back to Camp Nou is where Barcelona could stutter, as it is believed that funding a mega money move for him could be nigh on impossible. If PSG somehow make peace with the idea of selling, it will likely be for a world record sum, which is where the financial aspect might hinder the Blaugrana.

As things stand, PSG are unlikely to be open to the idea of parting ways with Neymar, who has been one of their best players ever since his arrival. So, while Barcelona are willing to bring the Brazilian superstar back to Camp Nou, the different factors involved make the move an unrealistic one.

Neymar’s desire to return to Barcelona though, certainly keeps the Blaugrana in the picture, while also handing Real Madrid and their aspirations to sign him a huge blow. For now, the 26-year-old remains a PSG player, with Les Parisiens hoping he can guide them to an unprecedented Champions League triumph, which might just help change his mind as well.
