Graeme Souness has made a shock claim on Wilfried Zaha, iterating that the former Manchester United star is good enough to play for Real Madrid

As reported by Daily Mail, Wilfried Zaha seems to have earned an admirer in Graeme Souness. The football expert has insisted that the former Manchester United outcast, who rebuffed interest in him this summer to stay put at Crystal Palace, is ready to play for a club as prestigious of Real Madrid.

Zaha has completed a stunning turnaround in form and fortune since ending his frustrating stint at Manchester United. Upon returning to boyhood club, the player hasn’t looked back, going from strength to strength, and is now well and truly one of the most fearsome attacking forces in the Premier League.

His exploits for the Eagles have not gone unnoticed either, with some of the biggest English clubs registering their interest in the former Manchester United star. Zaha though, has remained committed to Palace, turning down the chance to sign for a bigger clubs for two successive summer windows.

The 25-year-old even pledged his long-term future to Palace, by signing a bumper new five-year contract with his boyhood club. The confidence has been evident on the pitch as well, with Zaha already scoring two goals for the Eagles this season, goals which have seen him become the all-time leading goalscorer for the club in the Premier League.

And, Graeme Souness believes the time is right for the former Manchester United man to depart from Selhurst Park for greener pastures. The 65-year-old even believes that Zaha is good enough to play for Real Madrid.

“I think he is sensational. You might laugh at this, but I can see him playing for Real Madrid, that’s how good he is. There’s only a handful of players, even outside the Premier League, that have got his kind of ability. With the utmost respect to Crystal Palace — maybe he has been scarred by his experience at Manchester United — but he is ready for a big, big club, the biggest clubs.”

Real Madrid were indeed in the market for an attacking reinforcement this summer following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. For the most part though, Eden Hazard seemed to be the priority target for Los Blancos, who have since decided to not add to their options in attack.

But, if Zaha was a target for Real Madrid, the former Manchester United man would bring something different to the table with his change of pace and trickery. For now though, it does not look like the Crystal Palace superstar, or any other forward, is headed towards the Bernabeu.

What is crystal clear though, is that Zaha’s star is on the rise, and a future move to a bigger clubs, perhaps even Manchester United or Real Madrid, can certainly not be ruled out.
