Manchester United legend Gary Neville took aim at Arsenal over their ticket prices after a Gooner criticised his club Salford City’s pricing

As reported by Daily Mirror, Gary Neville has taken a swipe at the ticketing prices at Emirates after an Arsenal fan criticised the prices for Salford City’s upcoming game against Chesterfield. The Manchester United legend hit back by calling the Gunners a “pub team”, although those words were likely used to take down the fan.

Arsenal have been going through an extended rough patch over the last couple of seasons – campaigns that were the only two during which they finished outside the Premier League top 4 under Arsene Wenger. While they did win one FA Cup in these seasons, the quality of football dropped alarmingly.

Ultimately, Arsene Wenger’s illustrious stint at Emirates came to an end, with Unai Emery taking charge of Arsenal this summer. The initial signs were positive for the Gunners under the Spaniard, although the start to their season was far from ideal, as Manchester City outclassed them 2-0 last weekend.

The new Arsenal manager though, does seem to have a supporter in Gary Neville. The Manchester United legend recently iterated why Emery must be given enough time to prove himself and dealt with patience by the club and fans alike.

But, upon being provoked by an Arsenal fan, the former Manchester United captain had no choice but to retaliate in the way that he knows best – with a witty remark about the club that he supports. The fan, who goes by the handle @amansstomach on Twitter, had some choice words about Salford City, a club that Neville owns.

The Arsenal supporter looked to be criticising the club’s ticket prices by calling them out to be a “pub team”, despite their £10 valuation being the cheapest standard prices in the National League. But, the Manchester United legend was not taking the jibe lying down and he responded by saying, “£70 to watch your pub team v City last Sunday.”

Known for his hilarious posts on the social media platform, the latest upload will have surely won over several fans, and not just from Manchester United. The Arsenal fan, however, had no reply, although it’s safe to say Neville’s retort was aimed solely for @amansstomach.

Safe to say the supporter might not be taking aim at the Manchester United legend or his club in the near future. Arsenal though, will hope to prove Neville wrong with a better showing in the league this season even though his jibe was largely harmless.
