Real Madrid have officially denied either making an approach or reaching an agreement with Kylian Mbappe over a move from PSG this summer.

Real Madrid have made an official announcement to deny reaching an agreement to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos also went on to add that they haven’t even made an approach for the French international.

Kylian Mbappe has taken European and world football by storm ever since he first broke into the first-team setup at AS Monaco in the 2016-17 season. Since then, he has helped both the principality club and PSG win a Ligue 1 title each, and is now spearheading France’s campaign at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, all while he is still in his teens.

The French international, thus, unsurprisingly remains a hot property in the transfer market, with several clubs looking to snap him up. One club that has reportedly been in his pursuit for a long time is Real Madrid, having also courted him last summer before he joined PSG.

Los Blancos do seem to be in need of reinforcements in attack, having relied heavily on Cristiano Ronaldo – and Gareth Bale, to an extent – for goals last season. With Ronaldo’s own future with Real Madrid in serious jeopardy, the La Liga outfit are in a perilous situation if rumours of a move to Juventus do turn out to be true.

Bale is also reported to be on the edge at the Bernabeu, meaning Real Madrid are in serious need to bolster their attack. Irrespective of the duo’s future, the European champions could do with a player of Mbappe’s talents anyway.

Widespread reports earlier suggested that Real Madrid had reached an agreement to sign Mbappe this summer. But, Los Blancos have gone on to categorically deny those rumours, claiming that they have neither approached the player nor PSG for a possible move.

The announcement is in similar vein to the one they had made regarding another one of their reported targets, Neymar, wherein they had denied linked with the Brazilian.

The statement reads,”Given the information published in the last few hours regarding an alleged agreement between Real Madrid C.F. and PSG for the player Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid would like to state that it is completely false. Real Madrid has not made any offer to PSG or the player and condemns the spreading of this type of information that has not been proven by the parties concerned.”

With PSG cleared of possible Financial Fair Play sanctions, they do not seem to be in any need to sell players to avoid being fined. As far as Real Madrid are concerned, they will have to set their sights elsewhere in order to bolster their attack, which seems imperative at the moment.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has his focus firmly on guiding France to their second World Cup triumph, with the quarter-final tie against Uruguay this week being their next game in Russia.
