Liverpool are reportedly plotting a double raid on Napoli for Jorginho and Lorenzo Insigne in a deal that could cost them €130 million.
According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Liverpool are set to step up their interest in Jorginho and Lorenzo Insigne. The Reds are set to go all out in their bid to sign the Napoli duo in the summer transfer window, and will have to shell out €130 million to secure their services.
Jorginho and Insigne have been core members of the Napoli squad that has been transformed under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri. The Partenopei are now genuine Serie A title contenders, having established themselves as a regular top four side in recent seasons, and the duo have been vital in this advent.
While Insigne has been a prolific figure in attack, helping Napoli boast one of the best numbers in front of goal, Jorginho has been part of the engine room for the Serie A outfit, running the show from a deep lying position in midfield.
Between them, the duo have contributed to 17 goals and 16 assists, and are rightly commanding interest from several top clubs. In particular, one club seems to have its eyes firmly set on both Jorginho and Insigne – Liverpool.
The Reds, like Napoli, have been one of the most exciting sides in Europe this season, playing a fearless brand of attacking football that has enthralled fans around the world. But, while their attacking pursuits have earned several admirers, it is believed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is still looking to make improvements.
Liverpool haven’t yet managed to replace Philippe Coutinho adequately, following the Brazilian’s move to Barcelona. Insigne, thus, makes for a viable target. Jorginho, on the other hand, will be a player who can not only be a creative outlet but also provide a solid presence in midfield, who can be a top notch replacement for the outbound Emre Can.
Liverpool have already enjoyed success in signing a player from Serie A, with Mohamed Salah taking the Premier League and Europe by storm. And the Merseyside club believe that Insigne and Jorginho could also have a major impact at Anfield, and aid their transformation into a force in Europe and domestic football once again.
While Napoli might be hesitant in letting both Jorginho and Insigne depart, the report suggests that a twin bid worth a combined €130 million might just do the trick. It now remains to be seen if Liverpool succeed in their bid to land more players from the Italian top-flight as their stock continues to rise.
