Liverpool are interested in signing Jorginho, who is also being targeted by Manchester United and Manchester City for a summer move.

According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Jorginho is the subject of interest from Liverpool, who are eager to bolster their midfield in the summer transfer window. The Reds have now joined Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in pursuit of the Napoli midfielder.

Jorginho has gone about steadily creating a reputation for being one of the most reliable midfielders in Italy since joining Napoli from Hellas Verona in January, 2014. Now a mainstay in midfield for the Partenopei, the 26-year-old pulls the strings for Maurizio Sarri’s side from a deep lying midfield position.

But, as he plays a key role in Napoli’s bid to win the Serie A title, Jorginho’s performances have caught the eye of some of the best clubs in the world. Manchester United, Manchester City, and now, Liverpool are the three prominent names that could attempt to lure him to the Premier League in the summer.

At Manchester United, Jose Mourinho is admittedly eager to bolster his options in midfield, with Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini more than likely to not remain options for the Portuguese beyond the summer.

It is Carrick’s creative influence that Mourinho could do well to replace, making Jorginho a viable target for Manchester United. But, the Red Devils are not alone in pursuit of the Italian international, with Liverpool now eyeing the player as well.

The Reds are set to land Naby Keita in the summer, but by Jurgen Klopp’s own admission, his side are in need of a number six – a deep lying player. With Emre Can looking likely to call it quits at the end of the season, Jorginho is a like-for-like replacement for Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s interest in the player perhaps, stems from the fact that David Silva, at 32, is in the twilight of his career. While Ilkay Gundogan is a ready-made replacement option within Pep Guardiola’s squad, the German has had his tryst with injuries, meaning he could do with another top quality option in midfield.

The report suggests that Napoli are prepared to sell the player, and are scouring replacement options. It now remains to be seen which way Jorginho heads off to in the summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool set to indulge in a three-horse race for him in the summer.
