Eden Hazard is reportedly ready to stall talks over a new deal at Chelsea in the hope that Real Madrid will make a move for him in the summer.
According to a report by Daily Mail, Eden Hazard has practically sent a come-and-get-me plea to Real Madrid as he plans to stall on a new deal with Chelsea. The Belgian winger will agitate for a move to the Spanish capital if Los Blancos come calling in the summer transfer window for him.
Hazard has long been regarded as one of the best attacking players in the world, having been a key figure for Chelsea for several years now. 27-year-old and at the peak of his powers, the player has been at his best this season with a fantastic record of 15 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances to show for his efforts.
But, with Chelsea faltering in a Premier League title defence once again, and highly unlikely to win a trophy this season, Hazard appears set to call time on his spell at Stamford Bridge. Last weekend’s loss to Manchester City seems to have brought him to his breaking point, with the player criticising Antonio Conte’s tactics, and it looks like Real Madrid might just take advantage of this situation.
Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a move for Hazard for a long time now, with Zinedine Zidane known to be a huge admirer of his talents. The admiration seems to be mutual, with Hazard iterating that he would like to play under the Real Madrid manager.
The Spanish and European champions are now taking measures to finally bring Hazard to the Bernabeu. Real Madrid’s attack has failed to step up in crucial moments this season, especially in domestic competitions, even though a record of 65 goals in 27 league games show otherwise.
With Karim Benzema a pale shadow of his domineering best and Gareth Bale’s tryst with injuries seeing him go in and out of the side, a lot of the goalscoring burden has fallen on Cristiano Ronaldo, who himself has rediscovered his best form only recently. Although Real Madrid have found fluency in attack of late, the need to bolster Zidane’s options upfront seems to be paramount.
Real Madrid are, thus, reportedly plotting a move for Hazard, although Chelsea are determined to keep a hold of their prized asset. The Blues have initiated talks over a bumper new deal for the Belgium international, who recently insisted that he is going to sign a new contract with the club soon.
But, those talks seem to be a thing of past, with Hazard now ready to stall on renewal talks, to practically invite a summer bid from Real Madrid. If an offer does come Chelsea’s way, the player will push for a move to the Bernabeu, putting the West Londoners in a bit of a tough spot.
Any move for Hazard though, will only happen if Zidane remains in the Real Madrid hot seat beyond this season. It now remains to be seen if Los Blancos do make a concrete offer for the Chelsea talisman. But, as things stand, it’s advantage Real Madrid in this transfer saga.
