Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, with scouts regularly keeping track of the United States international.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are tracking Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic. The United States international has been on the radar of several top clubs in the recent times. And it seems Manchester United are now the latest to start monitoring the attacker.

Christian Pulisic arrived in Germany in February, 2015 and soon found himself earning plaudits for his performances. His displays saw him progress with tremendous pace, before being promoted to the first-team setup in the year after. His senior debut followed and the player soon became a teenage sensation.

Now 19, the player has already become a regular part of the United States international team as well and is widely regarded as the country’s latest hope. Pulisic’s return dwindled a bit this season under former boss Peter Bosz, something his successor Peter Stoger will hope to bring back close to the player’s usual record.

Pulisic has often been linked with Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp the man to have overseen the player’s arrival at Westfalenstadion before departing for Anfield. Liverpool though, seem stacked now, especially upfront, after the arrival of Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are the latest to show an interest in the 19-year-old. According to the report, United have repeatedly sent scouts to monitor the player’s performances and are keeping him on their list of potential transfer targets.

The rumours seem to stem from United’s potential foray into the market for a winger, something Jose Mourinho had intended to do in the summer transfer window itself. However, Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward failed to land Ivan Perisic, then the primary target.

United have already been linked to the likes of Willian, Malcom and others. But, Pulisic might just be the best one yet. For one, the player also possesses the ability to act as not just a winger but a playmaker as well, which could potentially fill the gap of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata, both of whom have been linked with an exit from the club.

As far as the money involved is concerned, Pulisic will likely cost as much as the other two mentioned above, if not more. Dortmund had already rebuffed multiple Liverpool bids for Pulisic, with the highest reported to be around £35 million.

The situation is a bit different now. A new manager at helm combined with the whittling fortunes of Dortmund might see Pulisic finally agree to a move to the illustrious Premier League, to a club like Manchester United, who despite American ownership, lack a superstar representing the said nation.

But, one should still expect the Bundesliga heavyweights to ask for a fee around the amount that Liverpool had offered – a figure Manchester United may happily spend if Mourinho marks the player as the one he wants at Old Trafford.
