Barcelona have confirmed that Neymar is set to depart from Camp Nou this summer amid rumours linking him to PSG.

Barcelona have made an official announcement to confirm that Neymar has communicated his desire to leave the club and hasn’t trained with his teammates with the permission of Ernesto Valverde. The Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a sensational move to PSG.

Neymar joined Barcelona from boyhood club Santos in the summer of 2013 as the Blaugrana warded off heavy competition from bitter rivals Real Madrid to sign the player. And having shrugged off his initial struggles, the Brazilian has well and truly established himself as one of the best players in the world.

The player truly came into his own this past season, bagging 20 goals and 27 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, with many hailing him to be Barcelona’s best player in the campaign.

However, after becoming such an important part of the first-team setup at Camp Nou, Neymar is now surprisingly set to leave the club this summer.

Widespread reports have claimed that the 25-year-old has grown unsettled at Barcelona and has, thus, been seeking a move away from the Catalan club. He is now widely expected to join PSG, with rumours heavily linking him with a summer switch to Parc des Princes.

Unai Emery already has quite a formidable attacking unit at his disposal, with Edinson Cavani, Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria his first-choice forwards. Additionally, the PSG boss also has Lucas Moura and Goncalo Guedes as his backup options.

The signing of Neymar, though, is a no-brainer as the addition of the Brazilian superstar would help Emery create one of the most dangerous attacking units in the world as he attempts to quickly move on from the disappointments of the 2016/17 season to challenge for the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles.

Barcelona have made it clear that they want Neymar’s €222 million buyout clause to be paid in full for any club to secure his services. As per various reports, Les Parisiens have no qualms shelling out the amount to land the player in a world record deal.

Barcelona also mentioned the €26 million loyalty bonus that Neymar’s father has reportedly been due to collect this week. The Catalans are reported to be willing to pay only a certain percentage of the aforementioned amount.

The move to PSG, meanwhile, should be completed in the coming days following his medical and once the French club submit the player’s buyout clause. Barcelona, on the other hand, are in need of some inspiration in the wake of what has largely been a disastrous transfer window for them so far.
