PSG are reportedly set to sign Neymar in a world record €222 million deal after the Barcelona superstar accepted their offer for the shock move.
Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo have reported that Neymar has accepted an offer from PSG to leave Barcelona and make the sensational switch to Parc des Princes this summer. The deal would see Les Parisiens trigger the Brazilian forward’s mammoth €222 million release clause – a world record transfer.
Neymar joined Barcelona in the summer of 2013 after a fierce transfer battle between the Catalan club and Real Madrid. While the player initially struggled to adapt to the challenges at Camp Nou, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the finest players in the world, having become a key figure for the Blaugrana.
The move to Barcelona has been highly fruitful for Neymar on a professional level as he has already laid his hands on every trophy there is to win in European club competition. And the 2016/17 season saw him truly come into his own, with many hailing him to be Barcelona’s best player in the campaign.

The Brazilian’s record last season is quite astounding, with a return of 20 goals and 27 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. Neymar’s playmaking abilities, in particular, came to the fore as he was actively involved in most attacking moves in Luis Enrique’s side.
However, after becoming such an instrumental figure for Barcelona, the 25-year-old could surprisingly be set to depart from Camp Nou this summer, despite only putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Catalans last October.
And as per the report, his next destination could be Paris, with PSG, who have been heavily linked to the player in the past, ready to trigger his €222 million release clause.
The report goes on to add that Neymar is unsettled at Barcelona and feels he needs to move away from Camp Nou to unlock his true potential. The Brazil international is, thus, set to join PSG in order to become the main star for Les Parisiens, having accepted their offer.
Indeed, the move to Parc des Princes would see him become the protagonist in Unai Emery’s side. Additionally, Neymar can combine with the likes of Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani to create a truly formidable attacking unit.
Landing Neymar could also potentially transform PSG into genuine Champions League contenders, having consistently struggled in their bid to win the title. It now remains to be seen if Barcelona can do anything to turn the player’s head, or if they are resigned to losing the star Brazilian this summer.
