Barcelona have reportedly encouraged Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United to meet Neymar’s buyout clause in order to work out a deal.

According to a report by Don Balon, Barcelona are ready to break the famous MSN trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar as they encourage PSG and Manchester United to meet the Brazilian’s staggering £170million buyout clause.

After missing out on winning the La Liga title this season, Barcelona are looking to overhaul their attack. The club already has replacements in mind for Neymar. Reports suggest that they are targeting Kylian Mbappe of Monaco and Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool.

Neymar joined Barcelona in a high-profile signing back in 2013. Initially, it seemed like Barcelona have hit the jackpot as far as attacking firepower is concerned. MSN became a force to be reckoned with and Neymar played a key role during most matches.

That did work for them as Barcelona enjoyed winning the La Liga trophy for successive years.

However, off late, he has been lagging behind when compared to both Messi and Suarez. In fact, he has been touted as an under performer for a good majority of this season. Messi netted 35 goals this season with Luis Suarez on 28 and Neymar managed only 24.

Overall though, he netted 104 goals in 184 games for Barcelona which is an impressive number. As far as talent is concerned, Neymar does not lack any.

The Brazilian is actually being targeted by several clubs. There were also reports of United rivals Manchester City and Premier League winners Chelsea being keen on signing Neymar.

Now, it is understood that Jose Mourinho has already engaged in talks with Neymar’s representatives and is trying to get enough funds to meet the 25-year-old’s massive buyout clause. The possible sale of Wayne Rooney could bring in some funds for Mourinho.

Neymar can do well alongside the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The forward’s style of play is somewhat similar to Rashford’s, since both enjoy pacey, attacking football.

With Rooney due to exit the club, Neymar can be a good option to replace him.

Meanwhile, United were also linked to sign Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman has a £84million release clause though, and now Mourinho will need to make a decision between Neymar and Griezmann.
