Wantaway Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is reportedly desperate to leave Arsenal to join Manchester City and is ready to accept a lower weekly wage

According to a report by The Independent, Alexis Sanchez is determined to exit Arsenal this summer to join Manchester City despite manager Arsene Wenger claiming otherwise.

The 28-year-old only has a year left on his contract with the Gunners and has been refusing to sign a new one. Although several big clubs like Bayern Munich, PSG and Juventus were interested in a deal, Sanchez is understood to prefer a move to join Pep Guardiola’s squad even at a lower cost.

Sanchez is known for his ability to score even in the most complex situations and he managed to record 24 Premier League goals last season. He has been an instrumental figure for the Gunners ever since he joined them back in 2014.

However, his fine performances have failed to do much for Arsenal, as the club failed to qualify to the Champions League for the first time in 21 years. Sanchez has been quite vocal about his desire to play in the European elite tournament and is keen on leaving for the same, despite Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph.

If Guardiola manages to secure a deal for the Chilean superstar, Sanchez can add a fiery quality to City’s strike force even though it could bring a significant reduction in Sergio Aguero’s playing time. Guardiola needs to improve City up front since they were rather wasteful in front of goal last season.

Guardiola preferred starting with Gabriel Jesus over Sergio Aguero several times last term and with Sanchez also in the fray, Aguero is likely to be pushed further below the pecking order at City which could possibly signal that perhaps it is time for the Argentine to seek greener pastures.

It does not come as a surprise that Sanchez is so keen on exiting Arsenal since he has won only one European league title so far with Barcelona. He will turn 29 soon and is likely to want his next move to be to a club that is capable of winning more trophies.

However, Arsene Wenger still remains adamant that Sanchez is not for sale. The saga concerning the Chilean superstar’s future has been intensifying ever since the transfer window began and it will be interesting to see how things play out.
