Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez is reportedly keen on a making the move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Spanish publication Don Balor James Rodriguez is ready to end his frustrating spell at Real Madrid in the summer. The Colombian international is eager to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United next season.

Things have gone pear-shaped for Rodriguez after a steady start to life as a Real Madrid player. From what looked like a promising career at the Santiago Bernabeu under Carlo Ancelotti’s tutelage has suddenly petered out ever since Zinedine Zidane took charge.

Rodriguez has fallen down the pecking order under the Frenchman, managing to start just 9 games in La Liga all season. His frustrations can be sensed from the fact that the Colombian has featured in just about half the games that Real Madrid have played all season.

As a result, it is believed that a summer exit from the Bernabeu could be on the cards for Rodriguez, as he wants regular playing opportunities at a time when he is approaching the best years of his career. And there’s no dearth of interest in the 25-year-old with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich linked with him.

However, if the latest reports are to be believed, Rodriguez has his heart set on leaving Real Madrid, but not for any of the aforementioned clubs. That is because he is keen on a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window instead.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has a number of attacking players to choose from with Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard as his top options. But goalscoring has been a big problem area for the Red Devils and Rodriguez can be a solution in that regard with his deadly eye for goal.

So, it does not look like Rodriguez has a future at Real Madrid and a summer exit from the Bernabeu is highly likely. The player seems intent on moving to Manchester United, and it remains to be seen if Jose Mourinho sanctions a move to sign the talented Colombian international in the summer.
