Real Madrid have reportedly rejected a sensational €50 million bid from Liverpool for their newest sensation Marco Asensio.

Marco Asensio is a player that has managed to carve out a regular place for himself in the first-team setup at Santiago Bernabeu. The player has been drawing interest from a host of clubs and as per Spanish publication Don Balon, Real Madrid have rejected a sensational bid from a top Premier League club.

As per the report, Liverpool had lodged a massive €50 million bid to land the Spanish international, an offer that was swiftly rejected by Florentino Perez – who moved quickly to acquire the player from Mallorca in the first place, especially with Barcelona close to signing the player back then.

Asensio’s progression has been meteoric to say the least. The player has played a part in 29 games for Real this season in all competitions, with 9 goals and 3 assists to show for his cause. But, beyond the numbers lie the true picture of Asensio’s influence.

The player has mesmerised the on-lookers with his silky dribbling and ability to go past defenders with ease – leaving even the opposition fans in awe and disbelief on many occasions. No other player has caused such eruption of emotions in recent times like Asensio has managed.

Surely the player has done enough to warrant a more regular place in the first-team setup for the next campaign. Still, there is no dearth of suitors for Asensio – with Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United all waiting to pounce at the slightest hint of the player’s availability.

Liverpool were linked earlier as well. And it seems they are the first to test Real Madrid’s resolve for the attacker. Real Madrid, however, have seldom let go of their key and rising superstars unless they are not viable anymore – either in footballing or economic terms.

Marco Asensio has connected with the Real Madrid fans and Perez would not risk spiting the fans, especially with the squad at such a successful juncture.

Liverpool’s rejection means that Real Madrid are unlikely to listen to any other offers for the player. However, like Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Juventus may test Real’s resolve in the summer as well. Zidane, though, seems to like the player and is unlikely to let Perez offload the player.
