Real Madrid are reportedly set to open talks with the representatives of Dani Ceballos over a move in the summer.

Spanish publication Don Balon have reported that the agent of Dani Ceballos is set to meet with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid next week over a possible move away from Real Betis in the summer.

Ceballos rapidly progressed through the ranks at Real Betis – having been previously let go of by rivals Sevilla due to a chronic Bronchitis problem – before making his debut for the senior side at the tender age of 18.

In three years since then, the 20-year-old has established himself as one of the key figures for his side and has also become a full-fledged international in the Spain under-21 team that is ready to vie for the European Championships in the summer.

2016/17 has seen Ceballos nail down a place for Betis in the centre of the park following the appointment of Victor Sanchez at the helm at Estadio Benito Villamarin. He has played 22 games in all competitions this term, making a constant impression with his technical abilities, tidy passing and clever change of pace.

All this has seen Ceballos being rated as one of the most promising young players in Spain. As a result, clubs across Europe have rightly been monitoring his progress, with Arsenal being one of the first clubs to be linked with the midfielder last season before a move failed to materialise.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have now entered the mix, with Ceballos’ agent set to sound out the two rivals in Madrid next week. Meetings have already been scheduled and the two clubs are ready to listen to the proposal on offer.

Real Madrid are, in fact, long-time admirers of Ceballos’ talents, and had even agreed a feel of €7 million for the player two seasons ago, before Betis raised their asking price to €10 million leading to the deal being cancelled.

They could again be in the market for Ceballos this summer, with positions possibly set to open up in midfield, should the likes of Isco and James Rodriguez move away from the Santiago Bernabeu. Ceballos could, thus, become a long-term solution for Zinedine Zidane, and bring a lot to the plate with his versatility.

Meanwhile, Saul Niguez and Yannick Carrasco face an uncertain future at Atletico Madrid, having become two of the most sought after players in Spain. As a result, Diego Simeone could be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements in the summer, making Ceballos a viable long-term replacement.

With Ceballos’ career growing from strength to strength, it has become clear that the player and his agent expect a move to a bigger club in the summer. With Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the fray, his future could be decided as early as next week.
