Sir Chips Keswick has stated that the Arsenal board is aware about the debate sparkling over the future of manager Arsene Wenger.

The chairman of Arsenal football club Sir Chips Keswick has issued an official statement responding to the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger and his future at the club. Keswick stated that the decision will be made in the foreseeable future and that now the board is only focusing on the current season.

“We are fully aware of the attention currently focused on the club and understand the debate. We respect that fans are entitled to their different individual opinions but we will always run this great football club with its best long-term interests at heart.

“Arsène has a contract until the end of the season. Any decisions will be made by us mutually and communicated at the right time in the right way.”

Wenger, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, is coming under incredible scrutiny from the media as well as the Arsenal fans. After twenty long years at the helm, the time may have come for the Frenchman to bid adieu to the job he loves with all his heart.

Since the Invincibles campaign of 2003/04, Wenger has failed to deliver a single league title, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have won multiple championships within that time span.

The Gunners’ faithful have accustomed themselves to an air of mediocrity as they have watched their team crash out in the knockout stages of the Champions League, fail to win the league, and win a domestic cup competition, which eventually sees Wenger continue at the club.

However, this time around, the Arsenal fans are having none of the Frenchman, and are hosting protests that a number of people have been attending. Never has the club been in such a situation where the fans are so vocal about the undoings of the Arsenal board.

Recently, Wenger has stated that the fans’ sentiment plays a huge role in deciding his future. Certainly, the Gooners’ majority wants the Frenchman to part ways with the club, and want an experienced and astute manager to take charge who can bring back the glory days at the Emiates.

Ronald Koeman and Massimiliano Allegri are two names strongly linked with the managerial post at Arsenal, while the club owners are believed to be fans of former striker Thierry Henry, and could offer him the permanent job come the end of the season.
