Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a £20 million bid to land Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha in the summer transfer window, as per reports.

The Sun have reported that Tottenham Hotspur have re-entered the market for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. The North London club are pushing for a move for the Manchester United reject and are plotting a £20 million bid for when the summer transfer window opens in June.

Wilfried Zaha has had quite the seesaw career in club football. The 24-year-old made a name for himself with boyhood Crystal Palace, before earning a dream move to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s last ever signing for the club in 2013.

Having arrived at Old Trafford as one of the most promising talents in England, much was expected of Zaha. But, he failed to make the potential count as he managed to make just two appearances for Manchester United before returning to Palace in 2015 in a five-and-a-half year deal.

His return to Palace has seen Zaha attempt to resurrect his career, but has been highly inconsistent in his performances. The 24-year-old has largely blown hot and cold, following a few good performances with a string of highly underwhelming outings.

That has been the case this season as well, with Zaha scoring four goals and providing seven assists in 24 matches in all competitions for Palace. However, it is widely believed that Zaha can flourish under the right manager as he continue to showcase his incredible potential with his directness, pace and trickery.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is widely regarded as one such manager and his track record over the years with Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham proves that. And it looks like the Spurs boss has sanctioned a move for Zaha, with Pochettino eager to add attacking reinforcements in the summer, having been linked with the likes of Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe.

The addition of Zaha could be key for Tottenham with the North London club lacking an out-and-out pacy winger in the squad. And the Palace attacker’s directness could be the perfect foil for the creativity of Christian Eriksen and the verve of Dele Alli.

Tottenham’s interest in Zaha isn’t new either as they failed in an attempt to sign him this past summer, having launched a £12 million bid. They reportedly came back in the market for Zaha in the winter transfer window but called off the move after the winger headed off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Tottenham are now back in the market for Zaha, and with Crystal Palace battling for safety in the Premier League, Pochettino believes that he can get hold of his target man should the Eagles go down to the Championship come May.
