Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz has chosen to stay with Los Blancos instead of moving to Liverpool, while former Real striker Jese has sealed a move to Las Palmas

Mariano rejects move to Liverpool

According to Eco Diario, Mariano Diaz has rejected a move to Liverpool in order to stay and fight for a place at Real Madrid. Mariano has only managed 9 matches across all competitions this season, but has been very impressive whenever he has played, scoring 5 goals and picking up 1 assist.

The 23-year old had been linked with moves to Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt but it now appears that Liverpool were indeed the front-runners for his signature and furthermore, Mariano has gone against Real Madrid’s wishes and refused to complete a loan move away from the Bernabeu.

Eco Diario claim that the forward was also approached by Alaves in this window and despite Real Madrid telling him it would be better for him to play and get some game time, Mariano refused and insists on fighting for a place.

They also claim that this was the same situation in the summer and that Porto, Villarreal and Leganes had all approached Madrid over a loan deal for the youngster but that he refused the moves and wanted to stay.

However, they state that Real Madrid didn’t mind at that point as they did not know the transfer ban would be overturned and saw no problem in keeping Mariano around. They also state that Zidane told Mariano he was welcome to stay as long as he didn’t cause problems and played when called upon.

Mariano is clearly a talented player and has impressive statistics this season. He has scored some important goals for Real Madrid and is definitely an asset to the team. However, with Madrid’s exit from the domestic cup he will further find his chances limited and perhaps a move would have been the best option for all parties in this case.

Liverpool could use an injection of quality into the squad – especially with someone who will have a lot to prove as is the case with Mariano. The Reds have been on a terrible run of form lately and Klopp could have used someone of Mariano’s quality.

However, it appears that a deal is now definitely off and with so little time remaining it looks highly unlikely Mariano will make a move.

Jese seals Las Palmas move

Jese Rodriguez has sealed a move to Las Palmas, finally ending his Paris Saint-Germain nightmare for the moment. The former Real Madrid striker only joined the French giants this season in a £21.5m deal but has struggled for playing time and fallen completely out of favour with coach Unai Emery.

Jese was considered one of the most exciting prospects in the world at one points and was heavily linked a move to Liverpool and even Arsenal before making the move to PSG. However, it emerged last week that Liverpool had ended any interest in the 23-year old and it appeared he was destined for a move back to Spain.

Las Palmas have now confirmed via their official website that they have reached an agreement over a loan deal for the Spaniard, and have claimed that they beat teams from England as well as Italy to capture the forward.

Jese will play for the La Liga side until the end of the season. The forward will be raring to go after only managing to play a paltry 261 minutes in the league with PSG this season and perhaps this could be what he needed to restore his reputation.
