Sergio Aguero has insisted he is happy at Manchester City amid reports of a move, and has praised Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has repeatedly praised the Argentinian forward, despite reports earlier this season of a rift developing between the two.

Manchester City have been quite inconsistent this season, but Aguero has still managed to net a very impressive 14 goals in 15 games. There has been constant speculation regarding the forward’s future, with Real Madrid a constant destination. Earlier this season Arsenal, Chelsea and even Tottenham were reported as being potential destinations for the Manchester City star.

However, Aguero has now put all those rumours to rest, insisting he is happy to stay at Manchester City and would only leave for one club – Independiente :

“There’s long been rumours about Real Madrid but the truth is that I’m very happy at City, especially with the arrival of Pep.” he said, according to TalkSport

“He’s helping me a lot to grow as a player and we speak a lot. I’m happy for how things are currently going for me at the club.

“I’m happy at City and I hope to finish my contract and return to Independiente.”

This quotes will come as welcome news to City fans, who adore Aguero who has become something of a club legend after his dramatic title-winning goal in 2012.

Aguero’s current contract runs until 2019, and earlier in the season there were reports that he would soon sign a contract extension but nothing has come of those reports as yet.

The 28-year-old started his career at Argentine club Independiente, before moving to Atletico Madrid and then finally to Manchester City in the summer of 2011.

His wish to return to his home land should come as no surprise, as several Argentinian players always wish to return to their boyhood clubs to end their career. Carlos Tevez stands out as one example, and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has repeatedly spoken of his desire to one day return to Newell’s Old Boys.

Aguero is currently on duty with the Argentinian national team, who face Brazil on the 11th of November in a FIFA CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifier
